Good post, and really rings true with me. I'm also in web dev, and although I enjoy it, I have many days where I think, "How am I helping out our world?"

My position is a little different (If I'm wrong on this assumption, apologies), I have a family to support, so any changes I make need to be well planned out, and financially stable. Still, there needs to be balance.

I'm turning 30 next week, and am getting some changes in place. This coming decade will be profoundly different for me.

Dang it, now I just need to write a post about this myself. (Thx for the motivation.)

@MrPuzzled Thanks man!

@Jonathan Thank you for reading! I'll still throw in some random frontend posts here and there I'm sure. :)

@Rob Yeah that's not far off from what I'm coming to terms with right now. David Foster Wallace said something very relevant here: "In the day-to-day trenches of adult life, there is actually no such thing as atheism. There is no such thing as not worshipping. Everybody worships. The only choice we get is what to worship. And an outstanding reason for choosing some sort of God or spiritual-type thing to worship -- be it J.C. or Allah, be it Yahweh or the Wiccan mother-goddess or the Four Noble Truths or some infrangible set of ethical principles -- is that pretty much anything else you worship will eat you alive. If you worship money and things -- if they are where you tap real meaning in life -- then you will never have enough. Never feel you have enough. It's the truth."

Thanks so much for reading!

@Tamim Yeah a definite change in direction, but for the better in a lot of ways I think (and hope!).

I have come to think that nearly every problem/dissatisfaction is essentially a spiritual problem. Indicating we are out-of-alignment with our purpose. I sought for meaning in philosophy, humanism, education and in many wordly areas, but I never found meaning in anything except spirituality.
